Great White vs. Saltwater Croc

Description

Alright. This seems to be one of the most popular top predator matches I've heard in years. A Great white shark, vs a Saltwater crocodile. On the one hand you have the sharp teeth and powerful jaws(Shark), then on the other, you have the long snout, duller teeth, with stronger jaws(crocodile).

I think who wins depends on how deep the water is and whether or not the two meet face to face. If a face to face (pictured above) battle happens, the fight could go either way. If a deep ocean fight takes place, the shark will most likely win because, a great white's bulk would prove very hard for a crocodile to grip since the shark will be extremely flexible in open water. Think of a small pair of needle nose vice grips trying to squeeze a much larger cylindrical shaped hard can. The vice grips would inflict damage, but it would be minimal compared to if it was all the way over the thing its squeezing. As seen above, the shark is much bulkier than the crocodile, ( yes, they were scaled to size). Not to mention a great white's sharp and powerful bite could easily cut through the soft belly or neck of the croc, while a croc can't chew but can only grip and spin. (Deathroll)

On the other hand, if a shallow water battle takes place, you have a predator with a stronger bite(croc), sturdy bones, more manoueverability, and armor protection. One bite to the shark on its tail could fatally wound the shark, because the shark's fins wouldn't allow it to turn easily in really shallow water. Once it can not swim, the great white becomes vulnerable to a powerful attack from a salty. A salty could also rip off a white shark's fin, though this may be difficult. As a result, the croc has a better chance of winning in shallow water.

The verdict, since great whites probably wouldn't fight a creature of that size and strength in shallow water, the fight would most likely take place in deeper water. The Great White would probably win 55% of the time due to its great muscle mass advantage over the croc(despite the fact it has cartilage), the combination of razor-sharp teeth with strong jaws(shark), versus a predator with brute force jaws with duller teeth(croc). However, if caught off guard or bit in the right spot the Salty's jaw would prove too much for the shark, Salty would probably win 45% of the time.

Overall, its a pretty even match but due to advantages of muscle mass, thick skin, girth, sharpness of teeth with powerful jaws, and speed, the great white would have the slightest edge over the croc.
